Chłop polski i migracje Floriana Znanieckiego
Abstrakt
After completing his studies at the Jagiellonian University in 1910, Florian Znaniecki entered a formative phase of his academic career. This article examines the interplay of ideas, research methods, and institutional as well as geopolitical contexts that shaped the intellectual identity of one of the founders of Polish sociology. It highlights Znaniecki’s engagement with cosmopolitan academic circles in Zurich, the philosophical milieu of early 20th-century Warsaw, and progressive philanthropic networks centered around the University of Chicago. The publication of the prolific five-volume The Polish Peasant in Europe and America was an innovative product of these overlapping global networks of intellectual exchange.
