Zofii Daszyńskiej-Golińskiej socjologiczne badania alkoholizmu

Abstract

Despite low popularity nowadays, Zofia Daszyńska-Golińska was called “a pioneer of economic and social knowledge in Poland” during her life and actually she was a scholar whose scientific achievements contributed much to Polish economic history, demography, statistics, economics or sociology.Her biography also shows that sociology is not only science, but also the way to improve reality. She was particularly interested in the alcoholism as social problem. Zofia Daszyńska-Golińska carried out a survey on alcoholism in West Galicia in 1901, and issued a number of scientific publications about the hazardous effects of alcohol and dangerous phenomenon of alcoholism. This text introduces the methodology which she used in her research and the fundamental issues that she raised in her books.
